My Shameless Plug

When my husband Dick got diagnosed with cancer, it affected everything in my life...the emotional part was not a surprise.  The constant runs back and forth to doctors and hospitals was not a surprise.  What was a surprise was the financial strain it has taken on my family. He could no longer work, and our bill added up..and continue to do so.  I worked full time as a nanny and continue to be a nanny, but the last 6 months, he has been in the hospital twice. Once with an infection and once with a perforated ulcer...he now needs more care than ever and I realized I needed to be home more, but still make $. I had NO idea what to do until I sat quietly and thought 'what do I love.'  I love to work with kids...and one of my favorite things I love to do is read books to them.

That "shameless plug" being stated, I truly love the company and am grateful for having found it because it is allowing me to do what I love, and care for my husband more...

And now, soon to come...my next post :-) !

Why a Blog?

Hmmm....why a blog? Honestly, my life has so many 'things' in it that my mom told me I should write a book. But I don't want to write a book...too much work and honestly, I just don't think I could do it. But I can write little 'snippets' and stories and all the stuff that you can do in a blog...and I do want to share a lot of these things in my life, so a Blog was the answer.

A few things about me

I'm a Nanny. I have had several wonderful families over the 16+ years I have done this full time, and also (and currently) work as a short term/on call nanny.

I am an Independent Consultant with Usborne Books and More. I wanted to find a job that I could be home and make some great $, with a product that I love and have used first hand (as a nanny and a mom) and this company fits the bill! (haha, and pays the bills...while doing something that I love)

I have been married for over 22 years to a spectacular man. 3 1/2 years ago, he was diagnosed with colon cancer...our life changed forever that day...we have learned to live with this illness and have met the most extraordinary people during his treatment, became closer to those we love and learned to appreciate everything more.  We are blessed.

I have 2 terrific kids..a 20 year old son and 18 year old daughter. We are in the midst of "Senior Year," "Prom," "Job Hunting," etc...everything that goes with being parents to young adults.

So much for about me...but these are the basics...

Welcome to my world
